3 major things you need to plan way in advance for your wedding day

Once you have accepted the proposal and set the date, it is time to start thinking about planning the big day itself. You may have some wedding ideas in mind - but when should you start confirming the details? Some things can be decided close to the date - but there are plenty of things you must book well in advance, in order to create your perfect wedding.

Hire your wedding transport

When you arrive at your wedding venue, you want to make a real entrance. Showing up to your big day in a stunning classic car is one way to ensure that all eyes will be on you. Extremely popular choices for wedding transport are classic 1950s vehicles like Chevrolets and Cadillacs, which are sure to make the guest of honour feel like a movie star.

If you want to hire a classic car for your wedding, make sure you book well in advance. During the summer wedding season, demand for vehicles is extremely high. To avoid disappointment, make sure you book at least a year in advance. For weddings and events outside of the peak season, demand may be lower and you may be able to secure a car at shorter notice - however, you don't want to leave it to chance!

Book a venue

If you don't book your venue well in advance, there is a good chance it won't be available on the date you want it. Weddings tend to be planned well in advance, and there is fierce competition for the best venues. For more flexibility on dates, consider a midweek or off-season wedding. However, for weekend weddings during the summer or for in-demand locations, make sure you confirm your venue and place your deposit at least 18 months ahead of time.

Choose your colour scheme

Most wedding days incorporate some kind of theme. This is usually a colour that is used in the flowers, the outfits, the venue decorations and even the wedding transport. It could also be a personal theme; some people incorporate their favourite movies, their love of a particular era, and even their own careers. It is your big day, and anything goes!

If you haven't decided upon a theme yet, it can be very hard to book anything else! Before you start ordering stationery, hiring suits, or booking the caterers, make sure you have chosen the theme of your day. It will make everything else on your planning list much easier to complete.
